UNSTRUNG TENTION
Outside In, Royal Ballet/ROH2 2002

An energetic and highly structured dance for five dancers and a cellist. The music is by Carl Vine and scored for solo cello and electronic score. Commissioned for OUTSIDE IN – a programme of new choreography for dancers of the Royal Ballet, performed in the Clore StudioUpstairs, ROH. Costumes by Cathy Marston. Duration – twelve minutes.

THREE WORDS UNSPOKEN Royal Ballet tribute to Constant Lambert 2001

A duet in three movements to piano music by Constant Lambert created for Tamara Rojo and Brian Maloney of The Royal Ballet. Perfromed in the Clore Studio Upstairs, May 2001. Costumes by Cathy Marston, Duration - ten minutes.

ADRENALIN BLUSH Northern Youth Dance Company/ Dance City 2001

A rhythmic, youthful and humourous dance created for the Northern Youth Dance Company and performed in an extensive tour of the North in Autumn 2001. Music by John Williams, costumes by Cathy Marston (all bright pink!). A cast of four girls and two boys. Duration – fifteen mins.

AMATERASU Japan 2001 Festival / City Ballet of London

A spectacular performance combining Japanese and British dance, music and theatre. Marston was choreographer for the British dance – a piece for ten men and another for four women, both to Japanese drumming music. Performed at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane, May 2001. Duration of the dance – 12 mins.

TRACES ROH2/Royal Ballet, 2001

A web of interweaving relationships unfold and recall the trials and tribulations of adolesence. Music by Yann Tierson, costumes by Ben Mayer, lighting by Simon Bennison. A cast of nine included Jenny Tattersall, Laura Morera, Christina Arestis, Rachel Rawlins, Edward Watson, Martin Harvey, Bennet Gartside, Hubert Essakow, Ricardo Cervera. First performed in the Clore Studio Theatre at the Royal Opera House, Feb 2001. Duration – 33mins.

THE BALLET SHOES
London Children’s Ballet, 2001

Marston’s first full length narrative ballet interprets Noel Streightfield’s novel, ‘The Ballet Shoes.’ Created for a cast of fifty eight to fourteen year olds with music specially composed by Raymond Warren. Costume designs by Kate Ford, set designs by Eva Oppenlander. Premiered at the Peacock Theatre, London, in May 2001.Duration – 1hr30 plus interval. . .next
