ROH2/ Royal Ballet, 2003

Loosly inspired by Styron’s novel, Sophie’s Choice, this is a lyrical yet dynamic ballet for three men and three women (on pointe). Music – Variations on a Theme of Chopin by Racmaninoff. Performed in the Linbury Studio Theatre with sets and costumes by Jon Bausor and lighting by Simon Bennison. 27mins.

SOPHIE ROH2, 2003

A multi-media collaboration with film/digital artist, Terry Braun, designer, Jon Bausor, composer, Jules Maxwell and light designer, Simon Bennison. Danced originally by Antonia Franceski and Karl Sullivan, the piece was a study on the character of Sophie from Styron’s novel, Sophie’s Choice. Integrated film allowed Sophie to dance among ‘ghosts’ of herself as well as fractured memories of the different men who had marked her life. Performed in the Linbury Studio Theatre, ROH to CD. 35 mins.

BETWEEN SHADOWS Royal Ballet/ ROH2, 2002

A narrative work based on L.P. Hartley’s The Go-Between. Created for a cast of six dancers of the Royal Ballet and special guest, Kevin Richmond. Performed in ‘Cohabitants’ in the Clore Studio Upstairs, ROH. Music commissioned from Philip Chambon for live viola and electronic score. Designs – Elizabeth McGorian. Duration – 31 mins.

FACING VIV English National Ballet. 2002

A sextet based on the relationship between T.S. Elliot and his first wife, Vivienne. Three couples portray different dynamics of the couple’s life together to a score by John Adams (Gnarly Buttons). Performed by English National Ballet on the 2002 and 2003 Tour de Force, including Sadlers Wells performances in London. Design – Anthony Lamble. Duration – 20 mins.
