ECHO AND NARCISSUS

Commissioned by the Royal Opera House in 2007 for the Linbury Theatre. This is a half-hour ‘dance-opera’ for two dancers, tenor and soprano with a commissioned score for small ensemble by Scottish composer, Stuart McRae. Libretto by Ed Kemp, design by Jon Bausor, video by Charles Kriel, light by Simon Bennison.

Commissioned for the Place Prize in August 2006, this fifteen minute duet was originally created for Charlotte Broom and Dylan Elmore to music by Dave Maric with light by Simon Bennison, Physical, emotional, cathatic.

ARCANA

Created for Marton’s own company – The Cathy Marston Project – this abstract, uplifting dance work, with a new piano/violin/percussion score by Dave Maric, was inspired by Marston/Maric’s visit to Havana, Cuba. Fifteen minutes, five dancers.

GHOSTS

Marston's first full length work, Ghosts was commissioned by the ROH and premiered in Sept 2005 and later revived by popular demand in May 2006. SHORE

A site-specifc work performed in a natural, sand amphitheatre outside Bamburgh Castle. Three dancers performed with a solo singer, choir, saxophone, Northumbrian Pipes and percussion to a commissioned score by Dave Maric. Libretto by Subhadassi and design by Patrick Burnier. EL DORADO

Created in 2006 for the Danza Contemporanea de Cuba with a cast of sixteen, El Dorado is set to a score by John Adams. 30 mins.

ORPHEUS AND PERSEPHONE

Created for Ballett Basel in 2005 to Vasks’ 4th String Quartet. A 30 min narrative ballet for 9 dancers. Costumes by Heidi De Raad, Set by Heindrich Nagel.

VIATORE

Commissioned for Images of Dance in 2005 to Vask’s score of the same name. A 12 min piece for 8 girls (on pointe) and 4 boys. Designs by Jean-Marc Puissant.

VENETIAN REQUIEM


Commissioned by The Royal Ballet for their Diaghilev Celebration in the Linbury Studio Theatre, ROH. A duet on pointe, originally created for Edward Watson and Lauren Cuthbertson to a commissioned score for saxophone and counter tenor by Judith Bingham. This is an eight-minute piece that could be part of a larger ballet. Designs by Jon Bausor, lighting by John B Reid.

DIVIDING SILENCE

Created in 2004 for Northern Ballet Theatre to Martinu’s Double Concerto. An abstract ballet on pointe with designs by Jean-Marc Puissant. Cast: 6 couples. Duration: 23 mins.

DICHTERLIEBE

Created for The Ensemble Group in 2004 and set to Schumman’s song cycle, Dichterliebe. Performed on tour in Scotland. Cast: 4 couples. Duration: 28 mins.

BEFORE THE TEMPEST... AFTER THE STORM

Commissioned in 2004 by ROH2 for the Linbury Studio Theatre to run alongside Thomas Ades’ new opera of the Tempest for the main stage. Two duets form a tempest-themed diptych; Sycorax gives birth to Caliban, Prospero sets Ariel free. Specially commissioned score by Jules Maxwell, design by Jon Bausor, lighting by Simon Benission. Filmed by BBC4. Cast: 4 dancers. Duration: 30 mins.
